Poetry has the power to take what is inside of us and give voice to our unique experience of the world in a way that no other art form can.
Acclaimed poet and performer Amy Bodossian will lead a workshop designed to get those poetic juices flowing and unleash your self expression through this timeless practice.
In this workshop you'll get a chance to write some exciting new poetry and share it in a safe and welcoming space where your unique creativity is not only supported, but passionately encouraged.
All levels of ability welcome.

Crafting compelling characters
Session Times: 10:30am -12:30pm Sunday 20th October (2 hours, $30 pp)
Crafting compelling characters is a key skill in fiction writing. In this workshop, writers will learn tools and techniques for building and fleshing out complex, multi-dimensional characters. Through discussion, activities and inspiring writing exercises, we will discover how to breathe life into our characters and also let them surprise us.

Session Times: 1:30pm - 3:00pm Saturday 19th October (1.5 hours, $25 pp)
A Poem in Your Pocket: Meet me in a poem. We can explore exotic Haiku and comic Limericks, Sonnets and Pantoums. We will see where the serendipity takes us. I look forward to unmasking the ordinary genius within everyone. Please bring pen and paper.
Conducted by Ann Simic, an award-winning writer and former academic. Her poetry is included in several anthologies, most recently, “Wild” (Ginninderra Press, 2018). This anthology has recently been accepted for inclusion in the collection of the National Poetry Library in London. She has also published a small book of poetry, “Summer Snow” (Ginninderra Press, 2017). She has a number of poems and short stories scheduled for publication in 2019. She enjoys presenting at festivals and spoken word events and tutoring in creative writing.
